A picture is worth a thousand words:

For the novel I-59 South, my mother wrote the "About the author" portion. It
seems fitting to put that here on the "About Me" page of the site:

Benjamin S. Johnson has been writing since the age of seven; short stories,
articles, books, and screenplays. He is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of The
Ohio State University with a passion for history and music. Benjamin lives in a
small town in Ohio with his wife and their family. I-59 South his first published
novel.
The writers who've influenced me most include Anne
Rice, Mark Twain, Douglas Adams, and Stephen King.

Dennis Joseph in I-59 South gets his name from the
son of a woman I knew at work and President Sidney
Cavanaugh in T.H.A.W. from her daughter, Sydney.
Years later we married and Dennis and Sydney are
now my children!

I have an extensive collection of Mark Twain
(author), Errol Flynn (actor/author), and Carpenters
(musical group) memorabilia.

I was born in Florida and my first home was a trailer
in an orange grove. I wrote my fist short story at six
years of age.

Paige Turner was an afterthought (and ultimately
became the main character) when I felt I needed
another layer to Dennis' character in I-59 South. The
book was begun in 1995. She wasn't added until 1998.
Her addition made the novel in my opinion.

I write the name G-d, not as a typo nor as a
shortened form of a swearing phrase, but out of
respect to Him, from whom all things flow. In certain
religious traditions, to write His name is arrogant.
This is a personal choice and cast no judgment on
those who might spell the name out.

I created the word "Errolesque" to fit my need for the
particular devil-may-care panache and joie de vivre
of a couple characters I've created.

My family and I own every season of M*A*S*H,
Friends, Gilligan's Island, Gilmore Girls, Quincy, Star
Trek (TOS), and Forever Knight.

I have a fascination with old tube-style radios and
pocketwatches, the latter probably being planted in
my head early on by the film I re-watch most,
Somewhere in Time.
